Beth (Rea) Shiley

Beth Irene (Rea) Shiley (November 20, 1950 to December 6, 2016) Beth Irene Shiley, 66, of Lemoyne, PA transitioned peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Pinnacle Health Hospital with her family and best friend by her side. Beth was born in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of Robert W. Rea, Jr. and the late Helen E. Rea. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Shiley. Surviving are her, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Samuel Scharein of York Haven, daughter Kimberly Shiley of Lemoyne, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Courtney Shiley of Camp Hill, her brother and Sister-in-law, Ronald and June Rea of New Cumberland, 6 grandchildren, Kristianna (Zachary), Kaden, and Kolsen Scharein, Miranda Shiley, Angelica and Madison Shiley, Godmother to her Grandchildren, Barbara A. Miles, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Beth graduated from Cedar Cliff High School (1968) and HACC, but she never stopped learning. In addition to her love for her family, joy of opening new worlds to girls and adults in Girl Scouting, commitment to her church and supporting her friends, she felt her life’s mission was to help people whether it is food for new mothers or working at The ARC or just talking to someone that needed a listening ear. She was a giver and always gave more than she had! Beth was a life-long, dedicated Girl Scout. She was a girl Scout for over 40 years. She was recognized with “Thanks Badge II” from Hemlock Girl Scout Council for her years of dedicated service to girls. Her camp name was “Beacon” – not only for her love of lighthouses, but for the guidance she provided for many girls and adults in Girl Scouting. Along with her avid dedication to Girl Scouting, Beth spent many hours at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where for the past 6 years she chaired the Fellowship Committee and providing activities/programs. However, her greatest times were spent with her family and her grandchildren Godmother. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, playing games, swimming, camping, and spending quality time together. She loved being around people and helping them experience something new. Her outlook on life was to live each day to the fullest. To honor Beth, her family will receive family and friends on Sunday, December 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a time for prayer at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorial donations made to either Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or Campership Fund, Girl Scout Council in the Heart of PA, 350 Hale Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
