JoAnne M. Stevens

JoAnne M. (Heiges) Stevens, 80, of Camp Hill passed away March 9, 2025, at Carolyn’s House Hospice Residence in Harrisburg, PA. She was born April 30, 1944, in Harrisburg PA to Merle and Exely (Suzi) (McCartney) Heiges. She grew up in Camp Hill, in the house her father had lived in since he was three years old. She married the love of her life May 8, 1966. They resided in Camp Hill, PA. JoAnne worked as a Church Secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lemoyne, PA while their daughters were in school. She also worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Education and retired from PA Department of Corrections. She then went and worked and eventually retired from YMCA Corporate office. She was a member of Camp Hill Church of God Not only was she a wonderful wife, she was a wonderful mother and grandma. JoAnne was a very active part of her daughter’s lives while they were growing up and later an active part of her grandchildren’s lives. She helped out in the classrooms, serving as room mother, chaperoning many field trips over their daughter’s elementary school days. She was a Brownie leader, hosting camp outs in their backyard. She attended many school concerts and sporting events for her children and grandchildren. JoAnne had a variety of hobbies over the years. When her daughters were young, she would sew clothes for them and made many doll and Barbie doll clothing. Later in life, she and her daughters got into scrapbooking. They attended many events, even some weekends, to work on their scrapbooks. Another past time was spending time with Roger taking their antique cars to car shows. They would attend shows from Spring until Fall. Later in life, Roger would drive his father’s 1952 Chrysler Crown Imperial and JoAnne would drive his 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe to shows. She had made many friends over the years from her different activities. Her loving husband of 58 years died August 22, 2024. Surviving are her daughters Deanna (Mark) Ritter of Camp Hill, Melanie (Kevin) Carroll of New Cumberland, her brother Dennis (Linda) Heiges of Lancaster, her sister Jill Dunn of Mechanicsburg, Grandchildren, Lance (Aliyah Hewitt) Ritter of Enola, Zoe Ritter of Mechanicsburg, and Brendan Carroll of New Cumberland as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Camp Hill Church of God 123 N. 21st Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011 on Thursday, March 27 with visitation beginning at 10 AM with service to follow at 11 AM burial will be at Rolling Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
