Jean Snell Lyman

April 4, 1922 - April 29, 2017

Jean Snell Lyman, 95, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Holy Spirit Hospital. A daughter of the late Neal and Pauline (Frownfelter) Snell, she was born in New Market, PA on April 4, 1922. She is survived by Robert James Lyman (Mechanicsburg), her husband of 74 years; a daughter, Judy Wachter (Richard) of St. Louis, MO; 3 sons, James Lyman (Laura) of Wilmette, IL; Donald Lyman (Pam) of Harrisburg, PA; and David Lyman (Maggie) of Parkside, PA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Rick, Kim, Scott, Jeffrey, Rachel, Joshua, Vanessa, and Jordan; and 5 great grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Hayden, Charlie, and Jaxson. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Snell Mallow. During World War II, Jean worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot. A 60 year member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, she was active in many capacities, including the Altar Guild. She volunteered in several libraries, served Meals on Wheels, and helped in the gift shops of the Museum of Scientific Discovery and the State Museum. She was a member of the YMCA and the Civic Clubs in Camp Hill and Hampden Township. After retiring, Jean and Bob traveled throughout the United States and Canada, visiting family and friends, museums, and National Parks, as well as many other interesting spots that they discovered along the way. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on June 3, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. A light reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill or Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg. Musselman Funeral Home Is Honored To Serve The Lyman Family.
