John Joseph Madara, 91, born May 30, 1931 in Shamokin, PA passed from this earth peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, PA. John, also known as “Jack” to those closest to him, made his home in Camp Hill, PA where he lived with the love of his life of 60 years (as of May 2011), Nancy. John is survived by his three children, William P. Madara (Sherry) of Harrisburg, Susan E. Thiessen (Paul) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Beth Ann Marzano (Frank) of Edgemere/Sparrows Point, MD, six grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren with one more to arrive shortly before what would’ve been John’s 92nd birthday. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Musselman Funeral Home, 324 Hummel Avenue, Lemoyne. PA . The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 am with the service beginning at 11 am. A luncheon reception at Duke’s Bar & Grill, 313 S. Front St, Wormleysburg, PA, will begin with beverages at 12:00 and a buffet at 12:30. All are welcome to attend. We offer our sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude to the many caregivers at Country Meadows Retirement Community who interacted with John since he moved into his lovely new home in July 2018. John lived his life with the attitude that “kindness begets kindness”. In turn he was treated by his caregivers with kindness, dignity and respect demonstrated by their genuine care and concern for his wellbeing. Their actions were integral in helping John settle into his new surroundings making him feel at home, comfortable and part of the community throughout his time there. John had a way of bringing out the best in people, and the caregivers’ smiles and frequent visits to John’s room just to say “hello” and then, after John’s passing, to offer their sincere hugs and tears, were a testament to how he brightened many of their days. The brightest light in John’s life was “his Nancy”, and he had missed her dearly every day for the past 12 years. Although we are saddened by John’s passing and will miss him very much, we are comforted by the countless, precious memories of our time with him throughout our lives. Our sadness is brightened, and we truly know joy and peace as we imagine the heavenly reunion of John and Nancy’s hearts. “Oh, Jack, welcome. I’m so glad you’re finally home where you belong with me,” Nancy might have whispered. What a beautiful moment in heaven that must have been! One of the best things about Heaven is that we will be able to reunite with loved ones who have already passed on. It will be the greatest family reunion we've ever known, with our loved ones, relatives and ancestors all together in one place at the same time, rejoicing. All together at last! -David Berg
