John E. Nolan, 90, of Camp Hill, passed away at home on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Born December 1, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Boyle) Nolan. Preceded in death by wife Dorcas (Dughi) Nolan, brother Joseph and wife Katherine (Reilly), brother Charles and wife Elizabeth (Gillilan), sister Mary, sister Teresa Plunkett, and sister Catherine Callahan. During WWII, served 1943-46 with SEABEES, 2 years in the Pacific, Solomon Islands to Philippines. 1950 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. Retired 1990 from Naval Depot Mechanicsburg PA (15 years), Engineering, Supervisor in Naval Logistics Division. Project Engineer for other firms: Bethlehem Steel Company Fabricating Department (11 years), Olmstead AFB (3 years), and in York PA at J. E. Baker (5 years) and AMF Harley Davidson (5 years). He also served many years as volunteer at Church of the Good Shepherd, and gave over 2000 hours of volunteer service at Holy Spirit Hospital. Surviving are his immediate family: son Christopher, Dillsburg PA; daughter Lisa wife of Andy Terrell, Lancaster, PA; daughter Jennifer wife of Edward Michalik, Shillington, PA; daughter Julianne, Camp Hill; son Vincent and wife Beth, Malvern PA. Also surviving are grandchildren Jessica Newborg, Maggie Barikbin, Anne Terrell, Julianne Michalik, Pierce Nolan, and great-grandchildren Ayden and Isabel Barikbin. Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Church of the Good Shepherd 3435 Trindle Road Camp Hill, PA 17011 Visitation will be 10-11 AM, with Mass celebration at 11. After the services, there will be a light luncheon at the church. Interment will be on a later date, at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Capital Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
