Louise Ann Hock Wright Norris
December 9, 1934 - February 7, 2018
Louise Ann Hock Wright Norris, 83, was called to heaven early Wednesday morning, February 7, 2018, at home. Louise was born in Bloomsburg, PA, on December 9, 1934 to the late Mildred and J. Lester Hock. She graduated from Bloomsburg High School and worked many years as a telephone operator for AT&T. In 1966, Louise started her own rumpus room in the basement of her home, giving her children and neighborhood kids a safe place to learn and play during the day as well as get a head start to elementary school. She also considered the rumpus room a blessing as it enabled her to stay at home with her children. Louise had a strong Christian faith and was very active in at West Shore Baptist Church in Camp Hill. She enjoyed game days with her church friends and participated in many outreach programs the church offered. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and, in her earlier years, was active in Order of the Eastern Star. She was a woman of many hobbies and loved belonging to clubs and entertaining friends in her home. Over the years she was active in a craft club. She loved to play pinochle with her family and was a fierce and competitive Rummikub player. In her earlier years she loved attending dances, enjoyed square dancing with her husband Don, attended movies at the theatre and traveled all over the world. Above all she was remembered for her kindness. Her faith in Jesus was reflected daily in her witness to others, be it her children and grandchildren or the Uber driver taking her to chemo. She was a warrior in addressing her cancer, never letting it pull her down and only speaking of her illness if asked. She taught her children to be humble, thoughtful, and loving to everyone. Louise was unselfish and always put others first in her generosity. Louise is survived by husband Donald Norris of Mechanicsburg, PA; and her children Linda Wright Reilly of Houston, TX, and son Calvin (CJ) Wright of New Cumberland, PA. She is also survived by stepchildren Brooks Norris of Lancaster, PA, Brent Norris of Swedesboro, NJ, Brian Norris of Atglen, PA, Michele Norris Francis of Atglen, PA, and Michael Norris of Philadelphia, PA. She will be missed greatly by her grandchildren: Alex Wright of Los Angeles, CA; Sophia Wright of Palmyra, PA; Kate Norris of Boulder, CO; Tim Norris of Lancaster, PA; siblings Patrick and Elyse Norris of Swedesboro, NJ; sisters Rachel and Meredith Norris of Atglen, PA; Curry Johnson Durborow of Coatesville, PA; Drew Johnson of Lancaster, PA; her seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Louise is survived by her three beloved younger brothers: John Hock of Clarks Green, PA, and his wife Patricia; Donald Hock of Bloomsburg, PA, and wife Virginia; and Roland Hock of Ephrata, PA, and wife Louise. She is also survived by her uncle, Robert Mosteller, of Millville, PA, and his wife Joanne. A special thanks goes to her oncologist, Edward Podczaski, MD, and his incredible staff. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salvation Army (https://secure20.salvationarmy.org/donation.jsp). A celebration of her life will be held at West Shore Baptist Church, 2025 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA. on Sunday, February 11. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by a service at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Lightstreet Highland Cemetery near the corner of Ridge Road and Rt. 487, Lightstreet, PA, on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:00 pm. Because she was loved by many in the Mechanicsburg area as well as Bloomsburg and Stroudsburg, friends are encouraged to attend any or all services. Musselman Funeral Home Is Honored To Serve The Norris Family.
