Marion Mackley
March 29, 1931 - February 5, 2022
Marion L. Mackley (Stavely) Marion L. Mackley (Stavely) of Littlestown joined her husband David A. Mackley in eternal life on Saturday, February 5. She transitioned peacefully with family by her side. She also joins her sister Elaine Fredlund and parents Lloyd and Elsie Stavely. She was born in Gettysburg and raised in Littlestown where she graduated from high school in 1949. She had nursing training from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and worked as a nurse prior to her marriage in 1960. After spending time with her three boys, she returned to nursing at Seidle Hospital in Mechanicsburg beginning in 1973. She later worked at Pealer’s Flowers in Camp Hill. She leaves behind three children: Daniel Mackley and partner Lauren Walker of Seattle, Paul Mackley and wife Holly Jill St. John of San Diego, Ted Mackley of Lewisberry, and six grandchildren; April Mackley, Chance O’Day, and wife Bonnie, Shay O’Day and partner Ryan Murdoch, Brady Mackley, Annika Mackley, and Mattea Mackley, and one great-grand child, Caden O’Day. Grandma (Aprils Eulogy) I've heard the phrase "a blessing in disguise." I didn't understand it until now. She was always one for others. As a nurse she was a caretaker, but that extended into her home. She raised three astonishing sons, one of which I have the honor of calling my father. She was a woman about other people. For all the years I was in school, she made my lunch, took me to school, and never asked for anything back. Her calling was to help other people. She was everything I wish to be, and a selfless being who wanted nothing but to give herself to the world. (Prayer) Marion, our daughter of Christ, may you rise and fall into the arms of our Lord, who blessed us so graciously with your heart. May you reunite with your husband, the late David Allen (Jack) Mackley. And look down on us, for we will be searching for you until it is our time. May you lay at peace and out of pain. Rejoice with those who have been lost before you. This is not goodbye, for I know we will meet again. Enjoy eternity in bliss. I will see you when I get there. I love you deeply, and I will miss you incredibly. You may be gone, but never forgotten. Rest.
