Pearl Heiges Kent, formerly of Highland Park, died on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Pearl was born on October 10, 1913 in Lemoyne and was proud to say she was 101 and half years old. She is the daughter of the late Irvin and Bessie (Groff) Heiges and the widow of Clifton T. Kent. After graduating from Lemoyne High School and Lock Haven Teacher’s College, Pearl began her teaching career in a two-room school in Highspire. Teaching the majority of her career at Manor Elementary School, she retired in 1973. Throughout her life, Pearl was an active volunteer in various environmental and social organizations including Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Penn-Cumberland Garden Club and the Susquehanna Council of the Girl Scouts. Pearl had a second home in Kennedy’s Valley. Pearl is survived by four children; Clifton L. Kent of Quarryville, Anne E. Babb of Apex, NC, Mary Kaye Kent of Havre de Grace, MD and Victoria L. Brownell of Thompson, PA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Musselman Funeral Home. Pastor Virginia Cover will officiate. A reception will be held after the service. Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park at a future date.
