Shirley A. Orris

June 6, 1934 - January 13, 2022

Shirley A. Orris, 87, of Carlisle, previously of Camp Hill, passed away on January 13, 2022 at Cumberland Crossings Assisted Living, Carlisle. She was born on June 6, 1934 in Harrisburg to the late Raymond Benner and Mabel (Early) Benner. She graduated in 1952 from John Harris High School, and often joked that she also had graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. She was retired from the Patriot News, and was a long-time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Camp Hill. Shirley enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and games, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her many witty phrases and sayings. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, John R. Orris Jr. She is survived by son Jon Orris of New Mexico; daughter Margie DeAngelis and her husband John, of New York; three grandsons, Luke, Mark, and John (Jack); sister-in-law Mary Jane Mitchell of York; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, February, 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street, Camp Hill. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to either Trinity Lutheran Church of Camp Hill or Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg.
