Ann Louise Christian

Ann Louise Christian was born in Washington DC on Dec 11, 1930. She died at home on March 30. She was an excellent student, and after graduating from high school, attended Strayer College in downtown Washington DC acquiring certification as a secretary. Ann served as a secretary at Bolling Airforce Base for military and civilian scientists who were working on highly secretive projects. She married the Reverend Truman Christian and thereafter served as church secretary in three congregations which included churches in Virginia, two in Pennsylvania, and retired after serving twenty-four years at the Lemoyne First Christian Church. In this area, Ann was a member of Lemoyne First Christian and an associate member of Calvary United Methodist. She loved raising a family of four: Robin Gaylor, Christine Butler, twins Lawrence Christian and Sharon Gilligan. Ann was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed travelling with her husband to national meetings and many church events. She served in women’s organizations and committees in Capital Area of Washington, also tutored in two public schools, taught in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She and her husband did gardening and she did canning of vegetables and jellies. The family made numerous camping trips in popup trailers across country. Ann loved people and was loved by many and on daily walks enjoyed visiting with neighbors and anyone who wanted to talk. Her walks included taking a pet; she loved her dogs and cats, and was interested anyone’s pet she saw. She is survived by the Reverend Truman Christian and three daughters: Robin Gaylor of Sykesville, MD; Christine Butler of Brookton, NY; Sharon Gilligan of West Chester, PA. One son: Lawrence Christian of New Cumberland, PA; five grandchildren: Erin Gaylor, Kyle Gaylor, Skye Christian, Kira Christian and Devin Gilligan. Her in-laws: Dwight Gaylor, Debbie Christian, Greg Gilligan and other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service has been planned at Musselman Funeral Home on Hummel Ave on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM where family and friends may gather and share their memories of Ann. The urn will be sent to Fort Indian Town Gap. No grave side services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lemoyne First Christian Church, Calvary United Methodist Lemoyne or churches of your choice or to worthwhile organizations.
