Mildred S. Spidle

Mildred Susan Fair Spidle, a beloved matriarch and active community member, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on November 2, 1930, to William N. and Frances E. Diehl, she was known to many as Millie. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mildred dedicated her life to family and community. She proudly served as a member of the Pennsylvania State Parole Board and a volunteer with the West Fairview Ambulance Corps. Her commitment to education was evident in her role on the East Pennsboro School Board. Mildred was an active member of several churches, including West Fairview United Methodist Church, Calvary United Methodist Church of Lemoyne, and Alva Methodist Church of Florida. Her passion for travel led her to organize countless bus trips to baseball games, New York City, and other exciting destinations. In her leisure time, Mildred found joy in crocheting, cross-stitching, solving crossword puzzles, and indulging in couponing and mail sweepstakes. Her warm and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Mildred was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Fair, Steve Marinchak, and John Spidle; her siblings, Alvin "Jim" Diehl, Frank Diehl, Newt Diehl, Betty Rudy (Diehl), and Agnes Hodges (Diehl); her foster son, Jeffrey Finley; her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Jeffrey, Sheryl, and Jason Fair, and her nephew Boyd Rudy. She is survived by her loving sons: Stephen Fair (Elizabeth), James Fair (Cathy), and Scott Fair (Linda); her grandchildren, William Fair, Marcia Fair, Jeremy Fair, Elizabeth Anders, Tonya Johnson, Jeanette Fair, Stephanie Druckemiller, Heather Mulhollan, and Keith Fair; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mildred's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. A viewing will be held at 11:00am on January 2, 2025, at Musselman Funeral Home, with a service at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
